Section 2.1
Hi Paul,
Can you tell me in the section why it says" Das Museum Ist es geschlossen" rather than "Das Museum es ist geschlossen"
Following the verb structure etc I would have thought the latter was logical.
Thanks
Richard

Re: Section 2.1
Hi there,
I couldn't find your exact example, only "Das Museum ist geschlossen" and "Aber heute ist es geschlossen".
Using both "es" and "Museum" is doubling up, it's like saying "The museum, it is closed" Grammatically this is fine and you might use it to emphasize the fact that the museum is closed and not the movie theater, but it does sound stilted.
So you can say:
Es ist geschlossen - It is closed
Ist es geschlossen? - It is closed?
Das Museum ist geschlossen - the museum is closed
I hope that makes sense. Please give me more information on where you found the sample sentence - thank you!
